More on cooking…

Tonight’s supper is in the refrigerator. This is actually my favorite easy chicken dish. It’s from Sue Gregg’s book, “Main Dishes”. It’s chicken, lemon juice, garlic, and spices. Very easy to put together and bakes up like a dream. The chicken stays moist and the taste is perfect.
I discovered Sue Gregg’s cookbooks about 8 years ago when we discovered that my oldest son (then about 18 mo. old) had numerous food allergies. Sue’s books on healthy cooking had a big impact on me. I realized that the food in most grocery stores is not exactly food in the truest sense. Please note that Sue’s books do include Bible passages. She is very open about her Christian faith. This by no means means that you can’t enjoy her wonderful recipies and gain a great deal from her knowledge of nutrition, food, and cooking.
Since then I’ve made all of the bread for our family from Sue’s book, “Yeast Breads” which is now called “Whole Grain Baking”. I use her original recipe which is very close to the recipe in this PDF, pg. 40. I have a Bosch mixer which allows me to mix & knead four loaves of bread at once. I love that machine! It is a little pricey but it will last for years and years. We found a great deal on red mixers. They must not have been as popular, but I don’t mind red at all if it saves me a bundle! There are also often good sales around holidays.
As for my fix & freeze meals from yesterday - all went very well! In my freezer I have 3 chicken meals, 7 batches of Cheese Biscuit Mix, and 3 beef meals. We ate one meal of Sesame Sirloin yesterday with some brown rice and man was is scrumptious! Absolutely wonderful! I’ll be going through the book this week and picking out a few more recipes to try out. I love having meals available!

I’m so glad you had a positive experience with the FFF cookbook. I will definitely look at Sue Gregg’s cookbooks as well. What is interesting is that I stumbled on FFF when I found out my then 12 month old had multiple food allergies and I felt overwhelmed trying to cook and bake for her.
Here’s a tip for shopping for FFF at Sam’s club: take advantage of their Click’n’Pull service. I used this free service for the first time while preparing for a big family reunion this summer. It saved so much time and frustration. Two nights before I needed the food, I got online and picked a Sam’s Club near the reunion location and got my shopping list out. I was able to order 85% of our supplies with Click’n’Pull. I went to the customer service desk and they called for my order. While the order was coming up front we ran to pick up the 5 things that weren’t available on Click’n’Pull. We were out of Sam’s Club in about 15 minutes. It takes a couple of minutes to set up online but I have used it several times now and I find it extremely helpful.
Now that is a great tip! So far Sam’s Club hasn’t been too bad when we’ve been, but I love the idea of having it all ready to go!
Thanks
